KOREAN 10 Step Skincare Routine | Get Glass Skin

10 step korean skin care kit

Korean skincare is a 10 step process that includes everything from double-cleansing, exfoliating and deep layers of hydration. I’ve always been interested in learning all about Korean skincare.  I love getting as many tips as possible from those who showcase flawless skin, which I can then incorporate into my current routine.  I got to digging and the Korean skin care industry covers a huge market with endless beauty products that can give you that glass like skin look.

10 Step Korean Skincare

  1. Cleanse the skin (remove makeup and cleanse with an oil based cleanser): An oil based cleanser helps remove makeup and dirt without compromising your moisture. This step is only needed at night, or anytime you are wearing makeup.
  2. Cleanse the skin (water based cleanser): Once an oil cleanser is used, is important to double cleanse the skin with a water based cleanser. Any oils and dirt left will be removed with the water cleanser. For a morning routine is your choice to decide to wash your face with a cleanser or just water. I have been washing my face every morning with the Cerave Hydrating cleanser, I like to work with super clean skin before applying moisturizer and makeup. This can vary if you feel your skin is extra dry and want to opt for just water.
  3. Exfoliate: Exfoliating no more than 2 times per week can help get rid of dead skin and avoid clogged pores. Beyonce is a huge fan of exfoliating and does it often to keep her skin looking youthful and letting that new skin show through.
  4. Toner: Tone the skin to remove any dirt and balance its moisture.
  5. Essence: Apply your essence right after you tone the skin. Essence is similar to a serum, it delivers hydration to the skin. Essence is more concentrated then your serum but much more lightweight and packed with hydration and ainti-anging benefits.
  6. Serums: Apply your serum for extra hydration.
  7. Sheet mask: Apply a sheet mask for even more hydration. A sheet mask will help your skin absorb the serums. This step is important to me as I have been sheet masking and then applying any serums but it appears is more beneficial to apply essence, serum and then sheet mask.
  8. Eye cream: This step is essential in any skincare routine, the area around the eyes is extremely thin and needs all the hydration possible. To help avoid crows feet and wrinkles apply an eye cream morning and night.
  9. Moisturizer: Your favorite moisturizer can be applied to keep skin hydrated and avoid fine lines and wrinkles.
  10. Sun Protection (am) Night cream (pm): You should always wear SPF even on cloudy days, to help avoid premature wrinkles and skin cancer. At night a night cream can be added if needed.

Morning vs Night Routine

This routine should vary between morning and night. In the morning you can avoid double cleansing the skin with oil since you will not be removing any makeup, cleansing with water will be enough. At night you don’t need to use sunscreen but you can use a hydrating moisturizer or a night cream.

This routine focuses on cleansing the skin deeply with the double cleansing method. Making sure all makeup, dirt and impurities are removed at the end of the day. I think the serums and sheet masks are incredibly beneficial and will provide that extra hydration. I want to incorporate sheet masking more often, not just on the weekends. It gets difficult to have a long skincare routine for everyday but some of these steps can really change the look and feel of your skin.

If this routine seems a little long for you, there are a couple of things that really matter and if you’re already following some of these steps then you’re good to go. The best take aways from the Korean skincare routine is Hydrating, Exfoliating and Sunscreen. Focus on these and you’ll reap the rewards of any skincare routine.
