Installing a lace front wig using gel can be really simple. Once you do it multiple times the process will be easy and second nature. It’s important to prepare your wig and have the necessary tools to make the installation process easier. The install process takes 5-10 minutes.
I’ve been wearing lace front wigs for the past three months as a form of protective style, in order to give my hair a break from heat tools and styling. Protective styles can really allow your hair to grow, they diminish the damage caused by heating tools and over styling.
Pre-Instillation Tips:
- Ask yourself the following questions before you install your lace front wig.
- Is the wig’s hair line pre plucked? Some wigs already come pre plucked and the hair line appears natural, if your does not you can create the illusion of a natural hair line by plucking hairs from the hair line using tweezers.
- Does the lace match your scalp? If the lace on the wig appears lighter or darker, use a little bit of foundation, dab the foundation on the inside the wig cap. Blend a small amount. This will make it appear more natural.
- Is the wig part wide enough? Pluck the wig part if needed to make it bigger and appear more natural.
Installing the Wig:
- Cut the front lace: Cut the excess lace off the wig. Be careful to not over cut the lace.
- Put your hair in a non bulky protective style: Two braids tied in the back or any hairstyle that will allow your hair to sit in the wig cap without bulk.
- Put on the wig cap: Put on a Wig Cap that matches closest to your scalp.
- Apply a small amount of got2b to your forehead: Start with a small amount of Got2b Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Hair Gel on your forehead and around the area where the front of the lace will sit.
- Let glue get tacky: Allow the Got2b Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Hair Gel to become tacky, either by air drying it or using a blow drier. (When using this hair gel is important to remove it correctly using warm water and a cloth. Do not rip the wig of your scalp without removing the gel. Do not brush this gel through your hair. It is very strong and can cause you to pull your own hair out.)
- Intall wig + secure clips: Install the wig and secure the clips on the side. Gently secure lace on top, allow it to lightly sit on your skin. Tie a soft scarf to set lace if needed. Wigs come with bottom straps, that help secure it in place or just while your lace dries.
- Create baby hairs for illusion: Using Eco Styler Olive Oil Styling Gel create baby hairs using the wig to help create the illusion that the wig is your real hair.
- Use concealer to blend part: To make the part blend in with your skin, use a concealer or a foundation to lightly dab it on the part and blend it as needed.
- Style as desired: Style as desired.

As always, I like to test out a product for weeks before making a review. I have been wearing this wig non stop for 2-3 weeks and I am truly obsessed. The hair density of this wig is perfect and makes it appear super natural. The cap is breathable. The wig part is wide and appears natural, without any additional plucking needed. This wig is beautiful and the perfect density. I was able to install this wig as is, without any further plucking or customization. The hair is soft and natural. The wig came with the roots died, in the future I would just get the wig without the roots. Roots are only at the top not all around the face.
I used the Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo to wash the wig to remove the yellow brassiness, this toned the wig and made the color more natural. The purple shampoo works quickly so be sure to rinse it right away and repeat if desired color is not achieved on the first wash.
I definitely recommend this wig.
