Getting razor bumps can be extremely annoying, as well as painful. While many of us try to avoid razor bumps and burns, there are a few tricks to increase your chances of achieving clean, smooth skin without ingrown hairs or cuts.
Shave at the end of your shower: Shaving at the end of your shower is a great way to avoid razor bumps. Wet skin, specially using warm water, can open up pores and make it easier for the blades to glide by.
Exfoliate before shaving: Exfoliating before shaving can get rid of dead skin and allow for a much smoother shave. The blades will slide much smoother and easier.
Don’t use old razor: A new, fresh razor is the best way to achieve great results. If you’re using a good razor and using it multiple types clean and dry it after every use, also don’t use it more than 5 times. Anything with multiple blades works best for avoiding razor burns.
Avoid shaving one spot multiple times: Don’t shave the same area multiple times, this can cause irritation, ingrowns and even cuts. Use light pressure.
Shave with conditioner or shaving cream: Using a shaving cream or conditioner can make it easier to shave and keep the skin hydrated.
Condition the area after shaving: Your skin will feel dry after shaving so using moisturizer after shaving can help hydrate the skin.
Let the skin breathe: Let the freshly shaved skin breath by not immediately wearing tight clothing.
