Skincare products that contain the right ingredients can improve the appearance of your skin, from making it even toned, to keeping it more youthful. It is important to create a skincare routine for yourself at any budget. I remember when I first started my skincare journey, I used many products from the drugstore. Products like Clean and Clear, Neutrogena and Shea Moisture became my staple.
My skincare routine has evolved over the years, based on my needs and finding new products that work better. Also, shocking my skin with new products is another reason I enjoy trying out new ones. When it comes to skincare it’s easy to get overwhelmed, and begin buying every product on the market or buying products without knowing their use or benefits.
Great Skin On Any Budget
Understand Your Skin Needs + Goals
Are you looking to clear you skin from blemishes? is it clogged pores? are you looking to keep your skin from aging fast?
My skincare goals are usually focused on hydrating and anti-aging, since I rearly get pimples I don’t focus on using products for acne. If you know what your skin needs are and what type of skin you have (dry, oily, combination) it makes it easier to select products that will compliment those needs versus throwing money down the drain on products that don’t meet those goals.
I buy products that will work well with my dry skin and provide anti-aging benefits.
Where Should You Splurge vs. Save
Understanding where to splurge vs. save when it comes to skincare products can do wonders when you start building your routine. A CeraVe cleanser can work just as well as a high end one, a Mario Badescu mist can work just as well as a high end one. Stores like Marshall’s are great for finding mid-price range products at a lower price.
Look at Ingredients
Similar to buying products for your goals and needs, I focus on understanding the ingredients used in products so I can make a more informed decision. I like products with hyaluronic acid, retinol, vitamin a, peptides, niacinamide which are focused on their anti-aging benefits.
Always look at the ingredients and see if they meet you skin goals.
Find Quality Drugstore Brands
Brands like Neutrogena, CeraVe, Cetaphil, Olay and Shea Moisture have worked well on my skin. Some of these brands have great ingridients and work great. Mixing high end and drugstore products works well for me. I mix between using a high end La Mer Cream to using a CeraVe eye cream and cleanser. If you know what each ingridient is and what is does it will be easier to find drugstore products that work.
