We are notified of new anti-aging products all the time, and while there are many great products on the market today, only one continues to be recommended to all of us.
The dermatologist anti aging recommendation always comes back to sunscreen. Not many people discuss the importance of sun protection, and how it is a major factor in aging over time.
Premature skin aging comes primarily from the sun, so protection is key, when maintain good skin. Wearing SPF on summer days is a must, but no one really talks about how important it is to wear it everyday. Not only sunny days, but cloudy days and raining days. The sun rays are still there, even if you might not see them.
Sun exposure via car glass can be just as bad. So even if you’re driving, you must protect your face from the sun rays. The picture below shows a truck diver with damage to the left side of his face, the side that was expose to the window glass for over 28 years, showing the damage from the sun.
UVA rays transmit through clouds and window glass to penetrate the skin’s layers, and have been tied to aging and wrinkles. According to the journal, chronic UVA exposure can result in thickening of the skin’s top layers, the epidermis and stratum corneum, as well as destruction of the skin’s elastic fibers. The truck driver took the brunt of the damage on the left side of his face because of his many hours behind the wheel.

Too much sun exposure can be responsible for dryness. It can overtime produce wrinkles, and discoloration that build up slowly in the skin over time. Overtime this buildup can be the difference between more visible wrinkles, or skin that looks younger.
Sun exposure accounts for a huge part of signs of visible aging in the face. Even when you don’t get a sun burn, or a tan the rays are still there, and effecting your face. Wear sunscreen everyday, and use a separate SPF under your foundation, even if your foundation brings SPF.
